Classic Lasagna

Ingredients (per serving)

  • 6 Ounces spicy Italian sausage

  • 1 individual garlic clove

  • 1 Cup marinara sauce

  • 1/2 Cup ricotta

  • 1 individual egg

  • 1 Teaspoon Italian seasoning

  • 1 sprig(s) fresh oregano, chopped

  • 1/4 Cup parmesan cheese

  • 1 pinch Kosher salt

  • 1 pinch black pepper

  • 2 individual lasagna noodles

  • 1/2 Cup mozzarella

  • 2 sprig(s) fresh basil

  • 1 pinch red pepper flakes


Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees

  2. Heat a small skillet over medium-high heat. Brown sausage until fully cooked, approximately 6 minutes. Drain the fat and set aside.

  3. Heat the same skillet over medium-low heat and warm the garlic for up to one minute, ensuring that it does not burn. Add the marinara sauce and cooked sausage. Simmer until bubbly and warmed through.

  4. In a small bowl, combine ricotta, egg, Italian seasoning, oregano, , half the parmesan cheese, salt and black pepper.

  5. In a small, oven-safe dish, place 1/4 of the sauce mixture to the bottom of the dish. Spread ricotta mixture on one lasagna noodle and layer on top of the sauce, cheese side up. Layer half of the remaining meat sauce, then half of the mozzarella. Repeat the layering process with another lasagna noodle, the remaining ricotta mixture, meat sauce and mozzarella.

  6. Bake for 20 minutes, or until the lasagna noodles are fork-tender

  7. Top with remaining parmesan cheese, fresh basil and red pepper flakes
